ICF Mentor Coaching Specialization FAQs Webinar

ICF is changing the requirements for mentor coaching — and the deadline is closer than you think.

Starting January 2027, mentor coaches must hold the ICF Mentor Coaching Specialization certificate for their mentoring hours to count toward coach credentialing. If you mentor coaches today, or plan to, this affects you.

Two pathways exist depending on your experience:

• Experienced mentor coaches can pursue a prior experience pathway to earn the certificate.
• Coaches new to mentoring will complete a structured learning pathway requiring a minimum of 41 hours of training aligned to the ICF Mentor Coaching Competency Model.
